TV Sound

BBC Studioworks operates two professional Avid Pro Tools audio suites, designed to accommodate a wide range of sound post-production needs. Our main dubbing suite features a fully equipped control room and an adjoining voiceover booth suitable for up to two artists, making it ideal for narration, ADR, podcast recording, or voiceover sessions for TV, film, and digital content. The suite is acoustically treated and fitted with industry-standard monitoring, offering an optimal environment for mixing, sound design, and dialogue editing.

In addition, we offer a second sound preparation suite, which includes a larger adjoining group voiceover space capable of accommodating multiple voice artists—perfect for ensemble recordings, crowd ADR, or animation sessions requiring cast interaction. Both spaces are supported by our skilled audio engineers and seamlessly integrate with the broader post-production workflow at Television Centre.

Whether you’re finishing a prime-time drama, entertainment show, documentary, commercial, or feature film, our audio facilities ensure the highest quality sound delivery with fast turnaround times and full technical support throughout the process.

Studio Connectivity and Delivery to Broadcasters

BBC Studioworks’ edit facility is fully integrated with our studios at Television Centre, Elstree, and Kelvin Hall, featuring high-speed, uncompressed HD video links to both in-house studios and external facilities and broadcasters. This robust infrastructure enables seamless, real-time media transfer between live studio productions and post-production, significantly reducing turnaround times and enhancing workflow efficiency.

Our uncompressed HD connectivity allows us to deliver ‘as-live’ and fast-turnaround content directly to all major UK broadcasters, including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, and Sky. We also have the capability to distribute content globally by integrating with third-party supply chains. Whether producing live entertainment, news specials, sports highlights, or current affairs programmes, this setup ensures post-production can begin immediately after filming concludes—streamlining edit-to-air workflows and supporting rapid versioning, compliance checks, and final mastering.

In addition to uncompressed video delivery, we have extensive experience in providing AS-11 file deliveries via conventional broadcast routes, ensuring full compliance with industry standards. Our high-bandwidth infrastructure also supports hybrid and remote workflows, offering secure, low-latency connections to external post houses, OB providers, and cloud platforms. This flexibility enables productions to collaborate efficiently across multiple locations without delays or compromise in quality.

Remote Working

BBC Studioworks offers advanced remote editing solutions through a secure VPN combined with HP zCentral software, enabling editors to access powerful workstation resources from virtually anywhere. This setup ensures seamless, real-time collaboration with the full functionality of our on-site editing suites, including access to high-performance Avid and Adobe software, shared storage, and fast media transfers.

Designed to support flexible workflows and meet the demands of modern production schedules, our remote editing service maintains strict security protocols to protect your content throughout the process. Whether working from home, on location, or at partner facilities, editors can connect to our centralized infrastructure with minimal latency, ensuring consistent performance and creative control. This remote capability also integrates smoothly with our broader post-production pipeline, allowing projects to move effortlessly between offline editing, online finishing, grading, and final delivery without disruption.

Vodcast Studio and Control Room

BBC Studioworks offers a fully equipped vodcast studio with an adjoining control room, conveniently located within our post-production facility at Television Centre. Purpose-built for high-quality content creation, the studio is ideal for podcasts, vodcasts, interviews, panel discussions, and other digital formats.

The space comes pre-configured with a versatile Silicone Edge Graphic (SEG) system, allowing for fast and seamless branding changes to suit different productions or clients. The studio features professional LED lighting for consistent, broadcast-quality visuals and is equipped with three Panasonic UE20 PTZ cameras, all integrated into a Blackmagic ATEM vision mixer and recorder—enabling smooth live switching, recording, or streaming with minimal crew requirements.

Multitrack audio recording is captured via Avid Pro Tools, ensuring pristine sound quality and maximum flexibility during post-production. Whether you’re producing content for YouTube, social media, internal communications, or streaming platforms, this studio delivers a streamlined, technically superior production workflow. Additional services such as live streaming support, green screen capabilities, editorial integration, and technical supervision are also available, making it a one-stop solution for high-impact digital content.
